How can I get my medical bills paid for because of an accident?

One of the most frequent questions I get asked is: who pays for my car accident related medical bills? In Delaware, there is an insurance called Personal Injury Protection or (“PIP”). If you were in a car accident and the car you were riding in has a Delaware insurance policy, you will have a minimum of $15,000 in PIP coverage.  This coverage is pays for things like your accident related medical bills, lost wages, and substitute services.  In Delaware, this coverage last for 2 years. So if your accident was on April 1, 2022 your PIP coverage would be up on April 1, 2024. There are a few exceptions to the rules and different deadlines on when you have to submit bills to your  insurance but for the most part, the PIP insurmace policy is over after two years.  The policy can also be “exhausted” meaning the policy amount is up.
